Apparently this was announced midway through November yet somehow didn’t make huge headlines, or it was mysteriously missed by me and the Dexter-philes around me. Nonetheless, Showtime officially renewed the awesome cable drama Dexter for both a seventh and eighth seasons!

I would have been accepting had they decided to end it at Season Seven, but I’m perfectly ok with extending it to Season Eight. The show runners have already said they are treating that as the endgame, and while it’s possible it will change it is unlikely. Eight seasons will make Dexter one of the longest running cable dramas in television history. Season Six has been great, as if any season of Dexter is ever bad, and it looks like things will only become more awesome from here. I’m already excited!
